As you have surely seen already, we had a blast this year at the annual extravaganza known as The NAMM Show 2015.An important part of that each year is the Night of Worship event put on my Christian Musician Magazine, Yamaha and so many other fantastic –volunteer– companies.
2015 was no exception to the great history being built for these shows. One of the amazing artists giving their time this year was the amazing finger-picking guitarist Doyle Dykes. The late Chet Atkins described Doyle like this; “Doyle is one of the finest fingerpicking guitarists around. I sincerely admire him as a person and as a musician.”
As a long time fan of guitarists like Chet Atkins, Mark Knoffler, Duane Eddy and so many more Doyle Dykes stands out among the best. Doyle clearly understands his craft. Blending styles seamlessly with innovative and expressive techniques he shares this gift with a humility and grace while honoring God. If you have an opportunity to explore his music you will not be disappointed. This was my first opportunity to see him live and I simply can’t wait for the next chance.
Check out this short video clip from the show, as well as a few pics. *apologies for the over-exposed video. I’m still figuring things out with the video on this fantastic Olympus E-M1. Enjoy!
