The biggest music-industry show of the year has arrived in Anaheim, California! Founded in 1901, the 9,000+ member international association represents every aspect of musical instrument manufacturing and retailing. When The NAMM Show opens the doors Thursday, more than 90,000 attendees will see the latest and greatest products and solutions from more than 1,400 companies. This very popular industry only show draws attendees from all around the world and provides an economic impact in excess of $70 million dollars in and around Orange Country. Attendees also look forward to the many celebrity appearances and performances. Christian Concert Photos is attending and will provide some insights to some of the cool products that may interest you, and with any luck we’ll get some great live music photos as well.
On Wednesday, January 18th, The NAMM Show hosted a media preview day. Press was invited to hear and see some early product announcements along with some great hands on demos. singer-songwriter Brian Wilson received NAMM’s highest honor, the Music for Life Award for his musical impact over the course of more than 50 years. NAMM President Joe Lamond presented the prestigious award. Other special appearances included; Michelle Philips, the last surviving member of The Mamas and The Papas who received a special tribute award. John Mayer was on hand with Dick Boak and Martin Guitars to unveil a beautiful new parlor-size limited (very limited…only 23 available) guitar that the guitarist collaborated on. Blues rocker Kenny Wayne Sheppard presented a new guitar World app, and former Governor Mike Huckabee spoke before jamming with Sheppard.
There were also some really cool new products in the supporting booths. Here’s a few sneak-peek photos from the presentations as well as a couple products that caught my eye.
